 Rules of Roleplay
« Thread Started on Jan 26, 2007, 12:13am »

Roleplay is where you create characters and set them in a scene - a bit like writing a story, but you can only write it bit-by-bit, and everyone can take part.
When you are writing your bit in the roleplay, you generally display it from your character's point of view, though not in first person (see below). You are allowed more than one character, but in the story, please show the character.
Nothing in first person (eg. I went down the stairs), it must be written in third person (eg. He went down the stairs).
Do not insult a person for what they wrote, and do not interrupt a whole roleplay thread just to ask a question. If you have any questions, go into the 'help section in General.
Say nothing rude - all rude posts will be edited.

Try and keep all roleplay threads small - seven pages maximum. Once past the limit, make a second thread to continue.
When writing your post/section, don't make it too large. We don't want one post taking up half the page, but try not to make it too small either. Unless you're a very skilled at writing brief entries, it can sometimes make the thread drag along slowly.

Godmoding is against forum rules. Godmoding is when you control a character without the owner of the character's consent. Here are examples of Godmoding which are, generally, frowned upon:
1. Two wolves are fighting. Wolf1's owner is trying to keep Wolf1 at the upper hand in battle, giving Wolf2's owner no chance to make Wolf2 fight back.
Try to give both sides an equal chance at winning.
2. Wolf1 is having a conversation with Wolf2. Wolf1 keeps talking without giving Wolf2 a chance to reply, and the conversation gets out of hand and goes only the way Wolf1 wants it to go. (This one isn't so bad; you won't be shunned for it, but try to avoid it anyway.)
Unless you are trying to make it obvious that your wolf is extremely talkative, try to avoid this and give the other wolf a chance to talk.
3. Wolf1 has the power to spontaniously make fire, while Wolf2 has the power to make fire disappear. Wolf1 suddenly sets a giant forest alight with a flick of his ear, and the fire is conveniently too powerful for Wolf2 to make disappear.
No matter what, your wolf is not God, it cannot bring wolves back from the dead and it most certainly cannot set a whole forest on fire with a flick of its ear. Try to keep your wolf's powers (which are optional) subtle. They can be powerful, but not so powerful that they cannot be undone with a wolf of opposite power.
(Mind reading is NOT permitted, although 'mood-sense' is.)

Please follow all rules, and please don't intentionally disobey them.
Roleplaying is fun - let's keep it that way.

Save the wolves! If they're gone, who else would be left to eat that horrible Red Riding Hood?
